Thus the need and idea of self defense for women has arisen. Women realized the need to protect themselves, their home, their children and hard obtained food.
Modern period of civilization has brought even more independence to women and they have the same need as women from ancient periods to protect themselves from various bullies and offenders.
The study from 2018 on violence against women
The study was conducted in 2018 on violence against women. A thousand women were inquired and 81% of them reported that they suffered some sort of sexual harrassment, attack or both.
Verbal offense was the most prevalent form. 51% of women said they were touched in unappropriate way, while 27% were sexually abused.
The study that was conducted in 2013 at the University of Oregon found that women who were trained in self defense had the following results:
- they had better self defense strategy
- they had more respect for their body
- they had enhanced selfconfidence
- they were better prepared for facing familiar and unknown potential abusers.
Why is it necesary for women to learn self defense?
Women should know how to defend themselves for the following reasons: they may be exposed to different types of violence at home by familiar ones, by unknown ones, at work, restaurant, street, public transport....
If one is unprepared and doesnt respond to threatening situations where is exposed to mental and physical abuse that can be lethal, nothing good can result.
Thus women should have in their accessories, besides make up, also the self defense skills to decisively defend themselves and their loved ones.
Self defense knowledge cannot be left at home at the night cupboard, because this skill is always and in every moment with you.
How can trainings be beneficial and what they create in a lady?
Kapap Krav Maga is a well structured self defense system that teaches us how to prevent, face and overcome every type of violence and attack.
The training system encompasses the themes of psychological and physical reaction to stress, prevention forms of behaviour, early identification of danger and early conflict resolution, self defense techniques related to characteristical attacks aimed at women and help to third parties.
Also the legal regulations in implementation of self defense are taught as well as the skills and reasoning in implementation of first medical aid.
The training also teaches methods of building up one’s selfconfidence and courage and how to react in a proper way to an attack.
The purpose of the training is to build up a correct attitude and change the way of thinking in situations of real fight for one’s life. In trainings you acquire knowledge of using your body in self defense, how to use additional tools and arms in those actual situations.
In order for someone to train and study Kapap Krav Maga previous experience in other sports or martial arts is not a prerequisite. The system is envisioned in such a way to gradually raise the level of physical and technical skills.
The differences between men and women in self defense
When talking about self defense in women, the differences in physical constitution of the body between men and women and the ratio of physical strength should be mentioned. I assume we all agree that there are huge differences between sexes and precisely because of that in trainings we do not separate training for men from training for women because it could be a great mistake.
The strength of grips or punch of women are weaker related to men. Should women train with other women, they would not have proper information of how actual attack looks like. One should take into account that women train self defense to defend from male abusers, from attacks, rapes, thieves, etc.
